Brain rehabilitation centre, Daniel Yorath House are happy to show off their new and improved gardens this week.

Leading, global insurance company, Zurich were pleased to dedicate a grant of £700 and the precious time of their employees for a day of charity.

Working as a small team in Garforth, Nick Doyles overlooked the landscaping of his men as they spent the day, doing their bit to improve the grounds of Daniel Yorath house.

Nick Doyles, Engineer surveyor and team leader said: "We have charity days once a year."

"Zurich is split into 33 different teams and each team has the choice to do a charity day. So we as a team chose to do one for a charity in our working area.

We spend a full day doing what we can for that chosen charity."

"People put bids in to get some help from us. It isn't only good for the charity but it is great for our team. It is a day of team building and the guys always enjoy themselves."

"This landscaping project we are doing for Daniel Yorath house is a project that needed doing and by helping them we are saving them a significant amount of money on labour."

The team at Zurich have knocked down an old shed, cut back an unruly hedge and neatened the border of the main centre. They have also beautified a front garden of a rehabilitation house owned by the centre across the road. They have laid a new pavement for a more stable ground and extended the front lawn for a lovely, green patch of grass.

Nick added: "I think it is a huge deal for them to receive our help. It has been great for them."

Julie Slinn is the Team senior at Daniel Yorath house. She really appreciates the help from the Zurich team. She said: "They come every year and help us out and it makes a massive difference.
I can't thank them enough and it really is a fantastic day. The service users spent the day baking for them yesterday to say thank you. It means a lot to them and they always try to involve the service users too, which is great."

Another project they have taken part in was the refurbishing of Leeds Urban Farm, helping the owners to get the grounds back on track.
