Last year, hundreds of young people fulfilled a dream that they had been training for, for years. They took part in the 2012 London Olympics. Since then, sports has become more popular than ever, and sporting organisations are actively encouraging the next generation of sporting heroes to get in on the action, and see whether they have what it takes to be the next Olympiad at Rio in 2016.

Even if your kids are not interested in becoming the next gold medalist, there are still plenty of opportunities to get them involved with various activities, and this includes a completely free swimming course that is touring the UK.

There will be up to three hundred spaces available for 7-14 year olds at each event. They will get to learn several aquatic disciplines, including fast swimming, synchronised swimming, and water polo, all of which will be taught by Olympic or Commonwealth athletes. After the kids have completed the course, they will receive an autograph, medal, and get the chance to challenge one of the pros.
