Zhe: [Noun] Undefined is a new play based on the true-life stories of its two stars. Drama, music and dance tell the story, from Zimbabwe to London. The show, with its central theme of identity, promises to be funny and moving.
This play pulls at my heart strings because my brother-in-law is from Zimbabwe, and has told me stories about the setting of the play. Harare is a well-to-do area, where everyone drives a nice car, apparently.
Funnily enough the play echoes the early life of my brother-in-law. He left Zimbabwe as a teenager and upon arriving in the rather grimy capital of London it was a culture shock, but also a new playground to explore.
It will be interesting to see how the creators by Antonia Kemi Coker, Tonderai Munyevu and director Chuck Mike present a play that seems so close to my heart.
