A joyfully funny parody of classic action film Die Hard is to tour the UK this autumn having picked up a series of four and five star reviews during its second Edinburgh Festival Fringe season. When gunmen seize an LA skyscraper, off-duty policeman John McClane is the hostages’ only hope. This uplifting action romp (and unauthorised parody) pays affectionate tribute to the iconic 80s fan favourite.

Yippee Ki Yay is the creation of Richard Marsh, who shares the one-man acting duties with Darrel Bailey (see listings below). The autumn tour begins with a date at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms in Staffordshire on 18 September, before a series of appearances that also take in the Lichfield Garrick theatre, also in Staffordshire, on 12 October and The Rep in Birmingham, on 14 October.



Richard previously won Best Scripted Comedy in the BBC Audio Drama Awards for his one-man play Skittles, which was commissioned for Radio 4 as Love & Sweets. He also won a Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with Dirty Great Love Story which he co-wrote and jointly performed with Katie Bonna. The show later transferred to New York followed by the West End. In addition, Edinburgh hit Wingman was picked up by Big Talk Productions for UK TV, then developed by CBS Studios for US television.

Darrel Bailey, who starts off on the tour of Yippee Ki Yay before handing over the stage to Richard, most recently performed in Small Island (National). Other credits include As You Like It, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Twelfth Night (Open Bar), Oedipus (Almeida), Alice in Wonderland (Brockwell Park), Much Ado About Nothing (St Paul’s, Covent Garden), and an immersive production of One Hundred Trillion (Dot Collective). Darrel also previously starred in Shadow and Bone (Netflix), and Eastenders (BBC).
