I had gone into Kingston to visit the
Eden Craft Fair, but before I reached the grounds of All Saints Church, I saw a sign outside the building directly opposite:
, open 1st November - 31st December. This is a just a small sample pop-up shop, but the main fair is going to be held on the 23rd November at
Glenmore House , where it will cover two floors with fifty stalls, a tea room, bar, beauty parlour, florist, and raffle.
Wow! Vintage & Craft was founded by Sarah Lloyd, Janet Huckle, and Nicky French, and is a non-profit organisation that donates all its profits to the
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity .
What I liked about this market is that it was not too Christmassy. There were Christmas tree decorations and other Christmas crafts in the centre of the room, but everything else was 'all time round gifts'.
By the entrance you'll can browse through lots of cards for all occasions, while at the counter, there were some cute insect fridge magnets made from cotton or wool. The looked like little mushroom-shaped buttons, only patterned like bumble bees, etc.
There were also some interesting dolls that looked like psychedelic Humpty Dumpties, along with children's clothes, elegant vintage dresses, and a clever nod to fox coat scarves.
Entry to the sample store is free, but the event at Glenmore House is £2 for anyone twelve or over.
My favourite craft items were a range of handbags/purses and notebooks, which had been upcycled out of old hardback book covers. I had to do a double take when I thought I saw a very thin copy of
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which turned out to be a notebook.
