In the gorgeous Lakes district in Northern England join Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle Duck, Tom Kitten and more at the The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction in the picturesque town of Windermere.



This fantastic ode to Miss Potter is fun for the whole family or friends with the gorgeous exhibit, garden and cafe. Don't forget to keep your eye out for Peter's centenary clock, which every half hour performs a musical production.

The attraction is located in the center of Bowness-on-Windermere on Crag brow with excellent signage making the sites locale easy to find. The exhibit is priced at £6.95 for adults, £5.95 for senior citizens, £3.65 for children and infants (under 2) at no charge. A family ticket is also available for £18.50.



When first entering the exhibit you are introduced to Beatrix Potter and her fantastic characters via a short film. The artwork is incredible and the film is a perfect preface to the rest of the exhibit.



Once the film is completed the door to Beatrix's world is opened and you enter the display that has been carefully crafted to immerse yourself into the stories. The landscape looks just like the english country side with fresh country greens and tree bark browns that are highlighted by gentle pastel colours.



The first scene you enter is Jemima Puddle-duck's woodland glade with Mr Tod's underground home nearby. The exhibit is 3D, although not interactive as the artwork is quite delicate.

Peter Rabbits garden follows, which actually sees guests leave the building for the fresh air. Here you will find Peter Rabbits clothing hanging on a stick, fresh flora, fauna and garden vegetables and the beautiful bronze sculpture that represents Potters stories.



My favourite area of the exhibit was Mrs Tiggy-winkle's Kitchen, which is beautifully crafted with her laundry hanging from the roof, and the wooden furniture carefully placed for a perfect photo opportunity.



Walking further you come across Mr. Jeremy Fisher who is sitting upon his lily pad, which is quite the scene complete with a pond that truly looks like water and which leads to a virtual walk of Beatrix Potter's Cumbrian countryside.



Then finally to finish you could only have Mr McGregor's and Peter Rabbit himself and just before exiting the exhibit guests have the chance to have a photograph taken in the scenery that they can then purchase in the gift shop.

Speaking of which its important to note that for many Beatrix Potter themed items the gift shop is actually more reasonably priced than the stores throughout Windermere. So if you are thinking of buying a keepsake the shop would be the best place for it.



After buying some memorabilia of your visit, what better way to complete your journey than visiting the specially themed tea room, which is open daily from 10am. The tearoom boasts a fantastic high tea with fresh sandwiches, fresh baked scones with jam & cream and an assortment of cakes with tea or coffee that is fast becoming famous in its own right. You can enjoy this afternoon delight for £7.95 for one or £14.95 for two. Kids are also catered for with a picnic basket filled with sandwiches and a drink.
