The world is so serious; we all need to learn to laugh more. Laughter is one of the most effective natural healers around; not only can laughing help you unwind, but its infectious nature creates a domino effect that can set everyone off. With so much fear and unrest, we all need some kind of release, and laughter could be just the answer we're looking for. Laughter is a positive, powerful, and universal emotion that can bring peace within ourselves, and hopefully around the world. And that is what World Laughter Day is all about. It started in India in 1998 with the aim of brining world peace. It was a huge success and so became an annual event.
Every year on the first Sunday of May, over sixty countries gather together for a 12 o' clock laugh-in. It's like a world-wide Mexican wave spreading laughter around the globe.
There will be gatherings all around the UK, and for those in London, you can meet up at Parliament Hill Fields Bandstand on Hampstead Heath. The event starts at 11am, where there will be a games, music, face painting, a picnic, and Laughter Yoga Exercises. Then at 12pm, all that practice should have you ready for the global laugh wave.
