Winkworth Arboretum is a beautiful botanical garden with over a thousand different species of shrubs and trees. Maintained by the National Trust for the past sixty years, it is a lovely place to visit anytime of the year.
As well as being able to wander the grounds at your own pace, there are several walks and trails that are continuously made available for the public.
Here is a list of the upcoming events that you can take part in, most of which are free:
15th December - 2nd January
The Winter Wonders trail is a fun and festive walk taking place between 10am and 3pm.
A Boxing Day guided walk around the garden starting at 1pm. It might not go a long way to shedding off the Christmas Turkey, but it will be enjoyable none-the-less.
If you prefer a bit of down time on New Years Day, then while everyone is celebrating, a relaxing guided walk at 2pm might be just the thing.
11 Wednesdays, 11 guided walks. For a list of dates and times, see here.
Between 10.30am and 4pm, give the kids some fresh air with the Half Term Children's Trail. A fun, educational programme to keep them busy over the holidays. Costs 50p.
