Four of the city's best galleries have joined together to present Winter Art Fair. Ikon, Eastside Projects, The Lombard Method and Grand Union will show art for sale by a host of artists – British and international.
A handful of art on sale
The Winter Art Fair is surprisingly convenient because the fair is located at venues across the city. It offers an alternative to the somewhat saturated German market, which is all anyone seems to be talking about, this side of Birmingham, and gives the arts a chance.
Gift-wise, Winter Art Fair, is the perfect place to pick up a truly original work of art, and spread the Christmas joy. There's nothing quite like an original, and whilst prices can be famously high for a canvas, prices range from £10 - 2,000.
Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know art covers more than painting on canvas. Sculptures, limited edition prints, and books will be on offer, for lovers of the unconventional. Sculptures can be heavy, but they make the most impressive gifts, or even centrepieces in your own home.
Without trying to sound like an advert, I'm in favour of the Winter Fair, simply because it's another side of shopping I've yet to indulge in, and variety is the spice of life, after all.
