Winchester Christmas Market is known as one of the best in Europe, creating a bustling atmosphere with handpicked high-quality exhibitors.
The Christmas Market, held in the Inner Close of Winchester Cathedral will be open daily from Friday 19 November – Sunday 22 December 2021.
Opening times are:
Sunday – Wednesday: 10.00am – 6.30pm
Thursday – Saturday: 10.00am – 8.00pm
Admission to the Christmas Market is free.
Attracting more than 400,000 visitors each year, this Christmas market is inspired by traditional German Christmas markets. The authentic wooden chalets are situated in the Cathedral's historic Inner Close, selling a range of tempting seasonal treats and delightful Christmas gifts.
To accommodate for social distancing this year, there will be wider walkways and monitoring of the number of people who attend. However, there will be no ice rink this year. It will be replaced by a stage for free performances to take place during the market.
Winchester Cathedral has announced "%%While the stage allows for increased space for social distancing, the Cathedral is delighted to be offering a variety of exciting, free performances throughout the duration of the Christmas Market.
Throughout the day, across all weekends, local acts from Hampshire, including choir groups, community bands, school choirs, city buskers, jazz groups and more, will come together to perform on the stage to entertain this year's festive visitors.%%"
The nearest winter ice rink this year will be held at
Portsmouth On Ice , Guildhall Square, Portsmouth City Centre.
The Cathedral is at the heart of the city's celebration, with its many Christmas services, Christmas Market, and festive activities that offer a truly unique and wondrous experience.
