How far are you willing to go? Is getting a bit 'wild' our secret weapon against the climate and biodiversity crisis? Well, Manchester Museum is throwing open the doors to its new exhibit, , which will officially kick off on 5 June 2024 in the Exhibition Hall. It's all about our rather tangled relationship with Mother Nature and how folks around the globe are trying to patch things up and build a better rapport with the great outdoors.
This exhibit will have you scratching your head about a few things, like why we fear the creepy crawlies in the wild and whether 'wildness' can actually find a comfy spot within the concrete chaos of the city. You'll hear from a fascinating cast of characters, from wise Aboriginal elders to researchers and local activists who are getting their hands dirty to make the world a brighter place. There are tales of traditional practices serving as salve for the land and the people, as well as accounts of farms being turned into thriving ecosystems thanks to some enthusiastic rewilding. With a mix of immersive installations, audio snippets, films, and interactive displays alongside natural history collections and art, you're bound to walk away pondering not just what's out there but also how it all connects to us. Plus, did we mention it's free? Tickets will be available soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
