Healthier happier eating

Smack bang in the middle of town, in Soho, Piccadilly Gardens,WholeFoods sits there, minding its own business; as modest as their message is, WholeFoods is the only indoor 'market of its size in inner-city London.

WholeFoods in Soho

They're the health store championing plant based nutrition, but mostly whole, natural produce (that includes meat, fish, and eggs). They only sell unprocessed goods, and have an even greater love affair than you do, with your personal health. Although WholeFoods are concerned with food, they also sell earth-friendly home and lifestyle goods.

It goes without saying that they stock whole grains, pulses, legumes, fruit, and vegetables, imported and local jarred and tinned goods. Impressively they sell the largest array of coconut water (£2.79 per litre for a coco natura), nut butters, and dairy-free alternatives.

Inside WholeFoods

On the first floor is the beauty section, which about 1/5 of the size of the lower ground. There's also the café seating area, where you can enjoy your hot, or cold lunch, eaten from the cardboard provided boxes, and recycled plastic cutlery.

From sun screen and baby friendly products, organic certified hair care, soy candles, and natural perfume. They stock oils and ointments, ayurvedevic goodies and vegan-friendly products.

On the ground floor WholeFoods embodies the shop title to the fullest. There are aisles of dry goods (nuts, beans, grains), frozen food like dairy -free frozen yoghurt, a fresh meat counter, a fresh fruit and vegetable section, and the most alluring fair trade , exclusive cocoa bean confectionery department.

Fair trade chocolate

In front of the fresh produce is their cafe. Unsurprisingly it's mostly a dairy-free, wholemeal zone, but also boasts wheat and gluten-free options. The cashew butter sauce and kale salad is delicious. Wash it down with one of their juices and give yourself a pat on the back - even if it isn't meat-free Monday.

Dairy free yogurt

Open from 7.30am to 9.30pm, there's no reason why you can't make every day a little bit healthier.
