A Staffordshire theatre has announced 24 new shows to mark the start of 2024.
Tamworth Assembly Rooms, where The Beatles famously played in February 1963, is to welcome a variety of new and exciting acts and shows to the stage for the new year. The line-up starts on 11 February with a performance by rock band Toploader as they celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the release of their debut album '
Onka's Big Moka’, featuring their global hit ‘
Dancing In The Moonlight’. The album sold over two million copies and remained in the Top 5 of the UK album chart for over six months earning them four Brit Award nominations.
In complete contrast, the Assembly Rooms invites younger audiences to join the brave rangers for an action-packed Dinosaur Adventure in the new and exciting show
Trouble on Volcano Island on 13 February. Families with young children are invited to meet the incredible Triceratops, the cheeky Spinosaurus, cute baby dinos and the gigantic T-Rex. This amazing, immersive and interactive show is guaranteed to be an unforgettable adventure. Chesney Hawkes is on stage on 22 February with his ‘one and only’ tour, singing his top hits from the 90s, while iconic 80s band Musical Youth will be celebrating 42 years since the release of ‘
Pass The Dutchie’ on 25 February. More children’s entertainment is on 29 February with youngsters favourite ‘
Spot the Dog’ as he celebrates his birthday on stage with Steve the Monkey, Tom the Crocodile and Helen the Hippo with an interactive and accessible show suitable for ages from two years old.
Plenty to see at Tamworth Assembly Rooms in 2024
The entertainment continues on 1 March with one-person show
Priscilla Queen of the Disaster - Surviving the Early Years of Motherhood, followed by the Electromantics as they pay tribute to the music of the 80s. Lollypops & Moptops on 10 March will provide a packed show of 50s and 60s sounds featuring The Dreamers, plus leading tribute bands performing the music of The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly. More children's entertainment arrives on 12 – 14 March with a stage performance of ‘
Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book’, written by Julia Donaldson, including songs and puppetry.
Dance show
The Million Dollar Men burst into town on 16 March, before psychic medium Stuart Michael arrives on 21 March direct from London’s West End. Further shows include
The Real Thing with original vocalist Chris Amoo and Dave Smith (23 March), and a classic Musical Theatre production of
Oliver, presented by Tamworth Musical Theatre Company (27 – 30 Mar).

There’s a Monster in your Show - Based on Tom Fletcher’s interactive adventures (3 and 4 May), plus look out for an announcement for the biggest Eurovision Watch Party on 11 May!
