There is nothing better than seeing a live musical in London's West End. But how about seeing it in the street and completely free?

Well that is exactly what Westminster City Council have been kind enough to do for us. Each year for one weekend only, West End Live, comes to central London and allows us to experience all our West End favourites, performing live, free and outdoors. In addition to popular west end shows, the is a whole host of other live performances, events, exhibitions and activities.

Normally West End live is held in Leicester Square, but due to redevelopment works in the area it will take place in Trafalgar Square.

This year West End live promises performances from over 20 popular musicals top class food from around the globe and the ability to shop, chill out and have a drink whilst experiencing a live theatrical events.

This years live theatrical experiences include Chicago, Billy Elliott and The Lion King.

There will also be performances from brand new shows;
Shrek , Ghost and many, many more.

Additional events include performances from The National Youth Music Theatre, London Gay Men's Chorus, Bob the Builder Live and The Gleeks (yes that is a glee tribute group!).

So there really is something for everyone. The will also be various exhibitors and extra events, including Angelina Ballerina, The London Film Museum, Ripley's Believe it or Not and the Science Museum. So watch out for all sorts of crazy activities, events and future discounts.

Avenue Q performing at last years event

Last years event was a huge success, and a lot of fans managed to get up close and personal with their West End idols. Even if you have already seen award winning musicals like The Lion King, there is something amazing about seeing it performed outside. Now that they have an even larger space to occupy it promises to be even more spectacular.

A full timetable of events for the weekend is yet to be announced but take a look at the website for continued updates.You can also follow the event on twitter for up to the minute information.
