A play about love in its myriad forms
Weird Weather, Mongrel Thumb
The poster

Weird Weather is Mongrel Thumb's newest performance and only their second production ever, which is hard to believe after witnessing it come alive on preview night. The London based theatre company, formed this time last year, launching the UK premiere of Eldorado at the Arcola Theatre.

A Grotowskian/Brechtian, stripped-back, actor centred modern take on how love; blossoms, coils/recoils and manifests into the unimaginable. It had beautiful moments of physical piquancy and well-chosen words. The four roles were evenly spread, allowing the actors each an opportunity to shine.

The younger pair of sweethearts; Charles Reston and Niamh Walsh, acted effortlessly.

Young love

Will Wrightson's direction was superb also, tackling a challenging sex scene, that could have easily come across as rather tacky.

A really compelling piece, which ended too soon!
