Tamworth's Castle Grounds came alive on Saturday 22 August with a bumper crowd of around 10,000 people enjoying a full programme of family activities as part of the annual We Love Tamworth festival.
The record attendance was rewarded with good weather as the threat of rain held off until the festivities ended at 4pm, giving people several hours in which to enjoy the range of fun activities on offer.
Tamworth Lions were one of many organisations at the event
Highlights of the day included fairground rides, a dog show, assault course, and Tamworth's strongest man competition, as well as demonstrations from various groups and organisations.
The event also attracted more than 70 stalls for visitors to browse in between the activities.
There was also a dedicated Children's Zone complete with a mini zoo, walkabout characters, glitter tattoos, bouncy castles, inflatable slides, junior gladiators, and balloon modelling which attracted some 600 fun-seeking youngsters.
The Children's Zone proved a big hit witg the kids
And throughout the day there was musical accompaniment from the Amington Band, alongside live broadcasts from TCR FM.
More than 50 people from across the UK took part in the strongest man competition, which saw contestants competing in events including dead-lifting weights up to 250g, a tug of war, pain loading and torpedo farmers.
A team from Tamworth Spartans Volleyball Club carried out demonstrations and games, while the police and fire services joined forces to engage with teenagers with a giant inflatable assault course and fun football coaching.
The event also provided the opportunity for various clubs and organisations to promote their work and attract new members in the busy stalls arena run by Tamworth Lions Club. They included Tamworth Arts Club, Tamworth Lions Club, Tamworth Talking Newspaper, Tamworth Guides, the Rotary, Round Table, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, Community Together, Two Rivers Special School and the Friends of Tamworth Castle.
