Three years of war in Ukraine and the friendship provided by the UK to the Ukrainian people will be marked at a special concert at The London Palladium.
Organised by the Peace Committee of Ukraine,
We Are Ukrainians - Three Years of Resilience takes place on 24 February and aims to raise funds for prosthetics and rehabilitation of Ukrainians who have lost limbs due to the conflict with Russia.
The concert features the leading Ukrainian choir The Hryhoriy Veryovka National Honoured Academic Ukrainian Folk Choir and Ukrainian singer Jamala who won Eurovision in 2016.
Founded in 1943 by composer and choral conductor Hryhoriy Veryovka, the choir brings together a choral group, an orchestra of folk instruments and a dance ensemble. Its repertoire includes Ukrainian folk songs, works by international and Ukrainian composers, and sacred music.
The choir has toured more than 60 countries including the USA, the UK, Germany, France, Japan, Canada, Poland and China as well as performing at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and in front of Pope John Paul II in the Vatican.
The show features traditional music and dance in a modern multimedia show and will be attended by Ukrainian celebrities including heavyweight world boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk and musician and politician Svyatoslav Vakarchuk.
Howard Buffett, Chairman and CEO of the Howard G Buffett Foundation, which supports the Superhumans Centre in providing rehabilitation for those injured in the war against Ukraine, said:
“The bitter truth is that Ukraine will need advanced medical facilities to help veterans and civilians affected by this war now and in the future.”
