1. Read the online newspapers, you may actually only save 60p but that's a lot of s over a month. Plus you will get more content online that you .

2. Use your local library to borrow books, games, CD's, DVD's rather than buying them.

3. Limit yourself to only going to the cinema on Wednesdays with the Orange Wednesday offer, alternatively Cineworld offer cheaper tickets on Tuesday evenings.

4. Ask for a discount, be brave as stores will normally grant a 10% discount if something is even the slightest bit chipped or snagged.

5. Similarly, don't forget to ask for a concession price when buying tickets. The elderly, students and young children usually under 5 will normally be eligible for cheaper ticket prices.

6. List some of your old clothes, books, home wares etc on sites like Gumtree and Ebay. Although they take a percentage of final sale value, these sites are great for your unwanted items.

7. But do wait for 'Free Insertion Weekends' on Ebay before you list items, they will only charge you if your item sells (normally 25p to list an item).

8. Think. Do you really need to park in the centre of town? Could you walk in?

9. Don't use cash machines that charge you money to withdraw, walk a little further to another cash point and save some money.

10. Make the most of clearance sections.. stock up on food that you can freeze.

11. But first ask yourself.. Do you really need it? If it is going to be sat in your freezer for ages is it really worth it anyway?

12. Shop around for offers.. it goes without saying that with supermarket competition, you can get some great bargains and deals.

13. When booking flights.. Clear your online history and cookies, this will guarantee to make your travel costs cheaper.

14. Before you go to bed make sure you turn off all your appliances.

15. Ask for tap water rather than mineral water in restaurants - it's free after all.

16. Be prepared, start looking for Christmas presents in the January sales. Just make sure you hide them well enough!

17. Use Freecycle and Freegle. As well as selling your unwanted items, pick some hidden gems up for free.

18. Make a packed lunch for your kids and set a good example by taking one to work. Packaged lunches and school dinners are very expensive compared to homemade healthy dinners.

19. Go coupon mad, cut out and keep. They will come in handy.

20. Sign up for loyalty cards, it may take you a while to accrue lots of points but 'every little helps'.

21. Plan your meals for the week. That way you won't tempted to get Friday night fish and chips.

22. Sign up to cash back sites like QuidCo and TopCashback.

23. Don't go shopping when you're hungry. You are likely to overspend.

24. Instead of buying expensive cleaning and harmful bleach products. Use newspaper, vinegar, lemon juice and elbow grease. Simple!

25. Think long term. When will you use it? If you don't know the answer to this question don't buy it.

If you look after the pennies then the pounds will look after themselves. Share your best tips for saving money below.
