It looks like it could be another wet summer this year, but don't despair; this is a good sort of wet. While we all might hate rain, especially when the sun is meant to be shinning, who could say no to a weekend of family fun at River Lee Country Park? On the weekend of the 24th-26th August, they are holding a
Water Ways World Leisure Show, giving families the chance to splash out in the river instead of with their wallet. With a day ticket costing just £5 for children and £9 for adults when
booked in advance, you'll certainly get you money's worth of thrills and exercise. Activities include kayaking, canoeing, taster sessions, white water rafting, and introductory lessons in wind surfing and rowing a dinghy.
If you would prefer to stay dry, then the thousand acres of parkland is the perfect place to go for a walk, or take part in a nature trail, or participate in some running and cycling activities.
Once you've tired yourself out, then you can browse the craft market, sample fine food, and let the kids run wild in the fairground while you sit back and relax to live music bands.
There is a lot to get done in just one day, so if you think you'll need a whole weekend, tickets are £16 adults, £13 seniors, and £11 children when booked in advance.
