London has lots of beer festivals these days, offering lager lovers an alternative to the pub, as well as the opportunity to try some tasty new beers.
The
Wandsworth Common Halloween Beer Festival has been making quite a name for itself in recent years, growing in size and popularity each time it returns.
This year's booze bash, which takes place at the suitably creepy-looking
Le Gothique restaurant and bar on Wandsworth Common, runs for three days from October 25th.
Billed by its organisers as "a festival of dark, autumnal, mild, barley wine, porter and stout from the four corners of Britain," the event is set to appeal not only to beer fiends, but wine fans too.
Visitors will have the chance to try more than 100 different ales, around 25 ciders and some 20 different wines. Just make sure you line your stomach with some nosh before you dive in.
Featured breweries serving up the frothy stuff include
Ballards ,
Dark Star ,
Brew Dog ,
Sarah Hughes and
Shepherd Neame .
And don't forget to try the appropriately-named '666' tipple created by Shepherd Neame and Le Gothique. Why 666? It comprises six hops, six malts and has an alcoholic content of six percent, that's why.
Entertainment comes in the form of live music by a number of artists, including
John Crampton and
The Jo Burt Experience . Tickets for the festival cost £4 on the door;
CAMRA members can get in for £3.
The pint-pulling starts each day at 1pm and carries right through the rest of the day to 11pm – just be sure to pace yourself or you'll be spending more time in the toilet than at the bar.
