Take a walk this Winter

Picture yourself wrapped up in your winter attire, you have just indulged in a large roast dinner and decided to leave the warmth of your abode to take a stroll in the countryside...

It's a stereotypical winter past time and quintessentially English in its own right take a countryside walk at the weekend, particularly around this time of year when we spend most of our time staying as warm as possible indoors.

There is no greater way to make you feel better about yourself after an unhealthy start to the weekend, be it from food or alcohol. Winter walks can be enjoyed in large groups, as couples or on your own. They offer a time for reflection, conversation and even exertion.

With all the hype surrounding snow the United Kingdom has witnessed in the past week, you might as well take advantage of what is construed as a negative. Walking in the snow is both therapeutic and good for you (providing you wrap up warm!). Already stunning scenes become reminiscent of festive postcards and photographs, there is a crisp and revitalising atmosphere surrounding snow covered fields and the feeling of walking over fresh, untouched snow is one that is always remarked upon.

Despite the cold, the agony it creates in terms of travelling and the trouble it causes to our infrastructure, the snow still holds a place in our hearts as an image of beauty and magic. If there is one thing to spark the imagination of many its snow covered landscapes. So why not boot up,wear your winter attire and head to the hills.
