Howzat! Cricket lovers throughout Staffordshire are being invited to try a more gentle version of their favourite sport with the introduction of a new walking cricket sessions which will start at
Burntwood Leisure Centre near Lichfield on November 8. The walking cricket sessions are being aimed at more mature men and women who might be better suited to a slower-paced, indoor format of cricket. Taking place on Thursdays between 3.30pm and 5pm, walking cricket is described as the perfect way to remain involved in the game and meet new people while also staying active.
Councillor David Leytham, Cabinet Member for Leisure at Lichfield District Council, said: "
In partnership with Staffordshire Cricket, we're pleased to be adding walking cricket to our list of Active Lichfield activities aimed at the over 50s. It's a great way to play the game but at a gentler pace. It joins walking football and netball and archery in our line-up of weekly sessions for adults." Sessions of walking cricket cost £2.50 a time and there is no need to book ahead, so people can just turn up at Burntwood Leisure Centre in High Street, Chasetown, Burntwood.
