Waitangi Day is a National Holiday in New Zealand. It commemorates the day when the Treaty of Waitangi was signed on the 6th February 1840 by James Busby. The treaty made New Zealand part of the British Empire, and gave the Maoris the right to their land. The first Waitangi Day was commemorated in 1934 with the presentation of the Treaty House, and is annual celebrated with a flag waving ceremony, followed by fun, fun, fun.
You can celebrate all things Kiwi with
TNT at their Waitangi Day Party, which is taking place at the
Bison & Bird in Clapham from 5pm. There will be special brews, fancy drinks, Kiwi burgers (and I don't mean the fruit), as well as a free Feijoa & Apple' Cocktail if you arrive before 7pm.
Aside from the food you can enjoy classic New Zealand music from the DJs, live entertainment, and competitions & giveaways. Entry is free when you
pre-book .
