Virgin Records 40th Anniversary
Virgin Group Ltd is a huge conglomerate business with over four hundred companies world wide, so when I tell you
Virgin is celebrating its fortieth anniversary this year, you might be wondering which
Virgin I am actually talking about. Considering their tag line '40 years of disruptions', you might be forgiven for thinking that it was
Virgin Trains, but alas, that franchise is still a teenager of sixteen.
No, the company I am talking about is
Virgin Records, the music industry founded by Richard Branson. With platinum performers such as Roy Orbison, Genesis, Keith Richards, Janet Jackson, Mike Oldfield, and the Spice Girls, it soon became a worldwide phenomenon, and to celebrate its success, they are inviting you to their birthday celebrations (you've got to admit, it sounds more exciting than celebrating the birthday of
Virgin Trains).
Between the 3rd October - 13th November, ten concerts will be on around London, plus an exhibition at Southampton on the 24th October, which will include unseen photography, videos, props, and memorabilia.
Tickets are between £23-£32.80, but many of the concerts have already sold out, so be quick to be in with a chance. You can still see Chvrches, Public Image, Jake Bugg, Bastille, Simple Minds, Boy George, Martyn Ware, and Soul II Soul.
