The Clerkenwell Vintage Fashion Fair is about to return for what will be its last bash of 2011. With that in mind, the organisers are planning to make it an event so exciting that you'll be able to concentrate on little else in the days running up to it.
In case you've never heard of the Clerkenwell Vintage Fashion Fair, think of it as a festival of vintage clothing, an opportunity to clear out your wardrobe and fill it with something special, something snazzy, something...well... vintage.
The upcoming event, which takes place at The Urdang on Rosebery Avenue on 13th November, has been given a special festive name, with it being within shouting distance of Christmas an' all: Vintage Wonderland.
Fifty traders are helping to make the event a special one, and they're coming from not only all over the UK, but also the rest of Europe. How about that? Think of all that fabulous Euro-vintage you'll be able to freely fondle, and possibly purchase.
There'll be plenty of designer vintage apparel to choose from too, with the likes of Christian Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier, Zandra Rhodes, Christian Dior, Biba, and Vivienne Westwood represented - and at prices that won't require you to take out any more mortgages than you already have.
Besides menswear and womenswear, you'll find jewellery, scarves, film posters, fashion images, handbags, lingerie, ties, tweeds, fascinators, shoes, perfume, chocolates, greeting cards, Christmas decorations and more.
Once you've got the frock you might want to wear the funky hair - in which case, have a chat with Clare Hair and Ms Envy Greene, who'll be at the fair. These hair magicians will have you looking like a Hollywood silver screen goddess quicker than you can say "how on earth did you do that?"
Clerkenwell Vintage Fashion Fair's venue has a cafe serving refreshments and also a dressing room where you can have alterations made to your purchases in case they're a bit too long in the leg or short in the arm. The dressing room operates under the care of a lady called Lindsay, an expert dressmaker who's been in the business for more than 25 years. Lindsay charges a small fee for her alterations - a full price list can be perused here.
If you're on the hunt for some new clothes, or need some inspiration for Christmas prezzies, be sure to join in the fun at Vintage Wonderland.
