Villandry Restaurant at Bicester Village

Ah, Bicester Village — the soul-less menagerie of designer shops, just left of the M41 — has a frankly beguiling attraction for first world wanderers: the promise of new things (!)
With its Hamptons-style decor and matchy-matchy everything, you'd be forgiven for thinking you were starring in an episode of
Desperate Housewives, or at least until you spotted the numerous designer names all vying for your precious cold-hard cash.
Whilst I'm not the biggest fan of Bicester's shopping scene, the food at Villandry — the huge restaurant that seats, what seemed like, hundreds of hungry Bicester visitors — was fantastic.
The restaurant was absolutely packed because of the school holidays, it being gloriously sunny, a real fine summer's day, and I guess, people trying to buy those last gorgeous pieces before school starts again.
Despite it looking fit to burst, we were seated (outside) within minutes, an umbrella providing some necessary shade and served our drinks just as speedily. They really don't let the side down. I appreciate that kind of service.
The food was superb too. Really good. Generous portions, tasty, well seasoned and great for families with hungry little ones. I have a particular love for the sweet potato fries, really bloody good.
Oh, and if you're with toddlers and babies, high chairs are provided, and they don't even flinch at the screaming child. Bicester is kids galore, as parents dote on their offspring, buying their love.
