Gorton Monastery is being transformed into a pop up cinema this February, why not do something different and treat your Valentine to a movie in this marvellous location.

The Village Screen runs pop up cinema events in quirky locations from swimming pools to woodland areas and these events are a chance to watch a film somewhere weird and wonderful. At Gorton Monastry on the 9th and 10th of February 2018, you can watch a film and celebrate an early Valentine's or if you'd rather bring along your friends and have a fun group activity, this is something everyone will love.

On Friday 9th February, there is a screening of Romeo & Juliet and on Saturday 10th February, you can enjoy Four Weddings and a Funeral. Also on the night will be a DJ playing all your favourite love songs before the screening. Forget the usual cinema snacks, you'll have a choice of amazing food and drink options from street food traders as well as from The Monastery's Victorian Pantry. You can enjoy a selection of delicious food, can grab a drink at the bar and even have tea and cake. What better way to enjoy a film than with a glass of prosecco and a slice of cake! You will watch the film whilst seated on vintage deck chairs. The amazing venue will impress you as it is a Grade II listed building with magnificent stained glass windows and a beautiful interior. The 19th Century building is a former friary and is used for many great events today. The Monastery will be lit by candlelight and heated to welcome you in from the cold winter weather, ready for a relaxed evening.

Tickets cost £15 for adults and £12 for concessions. Please note the event is for ages 16 and over and the food traders will be located outside, so you will need warm clothing to venture out and get more delicious film food. For further enquiries, please email [email protected] who can provide assistance with booking tickets and accessing the venue.

This is such an unusual Valentine's event which everyone will enjoy, whether you love drama or want to laugh at a comedy, there is a film choice for you. Why not ditch the usual Valentine's Day meal and do something different, you'll get brownie points for discovering this wonderful event.

Get set to watch the big screen somewhere new at this amazing Pop Up cinema event.
