'View From The Shard' Opening

Home > London > Architecture | Family | Fun Things To Do
If you love spectacular cityscapes, you'll love this
The newly opened Shard skyscraper situated in the heart of London is, at 310 metres, the UK's tallest building. From 1st February, you can travel to its 243-metre-high viewing platform and gaze in awe at the eye-popping panorama laid out before you.

State-of-the-art lifts moving at six metres a second whisk you up to the 68th floor in the blink of an eye. From there, it's just a short flight of stairs to the three-floor gallery offering stunning 360-degree views of the capital and way, way beyond (weather permitting, naturally).

Innovative Tell: scopes allow visitors to enjoy not only a real-time view but also at the press of a button a night-time view too (or day-time if you're there in the evening), and even a sunset view. The Tell: scopes also present London-gazers with information for hundreds of the city's landmarks, helping to bring the capital alive for adults and children alike.

So now to the difficult bit tickets for the Shard's viewing platform don't come cheap. At 24.95 for adults and 18.95 for children, many will decide to head for the slightly cheaper, and arguably more fun, London Eye Ferris wheel.

But for a one-off experience, a special celebration or romantic date, the Shard will surely be hard to beat. You can book tickets online here or call the ticket hotline on 0844 499 7111.

While many landmarks in London offer up wonderful views of the capital, there really is nothing quite like the Shard. Tickets are pricey, for sure, but it's a safe bet you won't forget the experience for a very long time.
