Vapiano happens to be one of my husband's favourite restaurants to eat at around the world, so it is only appropriate that I share this place with you all. This is mostly because the essence of the restaurant chain is that it is consistent, laid back and reliable, no matter which city you happen to be in. There are 140 Vapiano's in 26 countries so that's a fair few! So far, we've eaten at Vapiano's in Amsterdam and Berlin so can definitely vouch for those.
Considering the all Italian menu, would you believe Vapiano first opened in Germany. Home made pizza, pasta and dolce are the highlights on the menu but the best thing is you can watch the pasta being prepared from scratch behind large glass windows and packaged into serving sized brown paper bags ready to be cooked in front of you!
As you enter Vapiano, you get a card for each individual that you can then swipe when you order your meal at the pizza or pasta counter. The waiting times are very reasonable considering your entire meal is made on order.
All the Vapiano's we have been to so far have been spacious, long wooden tables and stools portraying an easy, laid back atmosphere with plenty of light streaming in from the many large glass panels. Simple table decorations include a pot plant, adding a splash of green. Friendly chatter of families and friends can be heard, but still leaving plenty of room to hear yourself and your company for a good conversation.
The food is fresh, delicious and simple. Feel free to add a splash of chilli oil, or pepper for extra flavour though. Table service may be available to order drinks as well, depending on the crowd and wait staff available- we did in Berlin.
Using you card, you would pay as you exit the restaurant at the desk. Prices are very reasonable considering the guaranteed satisfaction!
