Be moved by British theatre without spending a penny
Free West End theatre trip. How could anyone resist?
The theatres of London will usually stage an understudy run of a newly cast show, for a non paying audience on a given week day. It is either an invite only event or sometimes made a bit more public; depending on the theatre and their particular door policies.
You will typically find that the audience are made up of fellow performers and people in the 'biz', as they're likely to hear about these goings on and have the flexibility to go to see a production showing at office hours.
In this ultra-connected, technologically advanced, information overloaded world of everything being yours at the click of a button. The internet has made these affairs more accessible. If you appreciate the theatrical experience then be sure to 'like' 'Understudy Runs in London' on Facebook.
The next production is Tuesday 30th April, The Winslow Boy, at The Old Vic Theatre, 2pm.
I suggest arriving in good time to avoid possible disappointment. It is first come first served, so better seats for the early birds. Bring your happy faces and be grateful, because after all it is a freebie and we want them to want to keep doing them for all.
