Get your trainers on and start running; there are plenty of marathons and running challenges that you can sign up for this year that are all great fundraising opportunities for Marie Curie. You can support the charity by registering for a run and joining Team Daffodil. So whether you take part in a Great Bupa Run, get messy with Mud Madness or want to go the Whole Hog, whatever part of the country you're in, there will be something going on near you. Here are just some of the events taking place, but you can see the full list here.
The 'Bath Half' marathon is one of the most popular city runs in the UK, probably because it is a traffic-free route that gives tranquil views of the River Avon. The course is 13.1 miles, and since it is on flat land, the Bath Half is perfect for beginners. Registration is £35 and requires £175 sponsorship.
The 13.1 mile course starts in Holyrood Park with a glorious view of Arthur's Seat. You will then run through the city past sites such as Scottish Parliament and Edinburgh Castle. Every mile you'll be motivated onwards with live music, and will receive free entry to the post-race concert. Registration is £32 and requires £100 sponsorship.
Get some fresh sea air and stunning views as you run along the South Coast. You have a choice of 5km or 10km on the 5th October for £10, or a full or half marathon on the 6th October for £45 or £20 respectively. Sponsorship is between £150 - £500.
The Edinburgh Marathon Festival has been voted the fastest marathon in the UK. You can choose from a run of 5km or 10km on the 25th May for £10, and a half marathon, team relay, or full marathon on the 26th of May for £20 or £45 respectively. Sponsorship is between £150-£500.
A 26.2 mile course with picturesque views, the Bright Marathon starts at Preston Park, passing the iconic Brighton Pavilion before you reach the beautiful Sussex coastline and the finish at Madeira Drive.
