Unfortunately the big purple udder that has popped up at South Bank is not a new Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate factory. But that is no need to be disappointed, because it is in fact something much better. Better than chocolate? How can that be? Well, while Cadbury's pint and a half is 'once on the lips, a life time on the hips', the Udderbelly Festival is a four-month, gallons of fun extravaganza of music, workshops, performing arts, and comedy with memories that will last a lifetime.

Tickets to the shows cost between £10-£22.50, and you can get a taste of what's in store by going to the Opening Gala on the 10th April. The festival runs until the 13th July; milk it for all its worth by seeing as much as possible.

If you like stand-up, then look out for shows such as Fylm School, The English Comedian of the Year Grand Final, The Best of the Comedy Store, Comedy in the Dark, and Four Screws Loose Screwtopia.

If you prefer the performing arts then Austentacious plays out an improvised Jane Austen Novel, while the acrobats in A Simple Space , push gravity to the limits. There is plenty for children to enjoy as well, including Shlomo's Beatbox Adventure and The Amazing Bubbleman.
