With Easter fast approaching,there are plenty of fun activities for families and kids , but not everyone gets excited about chocolate eggs and bunnies. The Easter break runs from Friday March 30th till Sunday April 15th, and throughout these two weeks Tudor House & Garden have a program of activities with something to suit kids of any age. Take a look at what's on offer and book to secure a spot for your kids.



Tudor House is an important historical building built in the late 15th Century. The building is a preservation of Tudor architecture, while it also acts as a museum exploring 800 years of Southampton's history. As well as their school holiday program, Tudor House & Garden is open throughout the year and has a regular program of events for children and families.

World War 2 Ciphers and Air-Raids
Tuesday April 3rd, 10am-1pm

This session will take children on a journey back to World War II, when Southampton was turned to rubble by German bombs and code-breakers were helping foil enemy plans. They'll get to learn how to use a cypher wheel to create and break codes and they'll make their own gas masks to bring with them before exploring the air-raid shelters under the city. This is a history lesson with a lot of fun. Kids should bring along torches and sensible footwear for the activities.

Spring Fairies
Wednesday April 4th, 10.30am-12pm or 1pm-2.30pm

Younger children will enjoy this creative storytelling session. Starting with a fairy story, children will then get the opportunity to create some fairy themed crafts and even explore the gardens on a fairy hunt. Kids can come in their most magical fancy dress.

A History of Magic: Harry Potter's World

This event is all ages, but that might mean there will be a bunch of Potter loving adults fighting for front row seats. Andy Skinner, a big Harry Potter fan, will be presenting a talk that explores the world of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter alongside the real history and longtime myths that helped shape her magical world.

Southampton Time Travellers
Monday April 9th, 10am-1pm

Kids will learn more about Southampton's history through a tour of the Old Town and themed activities. There will also be some crafts as part of the event. Children should bring along torches and sensible footwear.

Garden Tots
Tuesday April 10th, 10am-11am & 11.30am-12.30pm

A fun hour of exploring the garden followed by crafts inspired by the outdoors.

Under 6s

Tudor Moneyboxes
Thursday April 12th, 10.30am-12om & 1pm-2.30pm

This history fuelled craft session will have children creating their own moneyboxes inspired by the Tudors while they also learn about many aspects of Tudor life and history. No need to bring anything along except a little creativity.
