The Tea Shop was a completely random discovery; I had been out walking with my mum and we were both cold and tired and wanted some lunch. Taken in by the twee sign and the pleasant interior, we settled in happily and began our search of lunch.

However, it was an incredibly welcome discovery as the food was great. The menu changes on a regular basis as it depends a lot on what they are cooking in their tiny kitchen. But my mum and I sampled the cheese and onion tart, which was freshly baked, and served with salad and the chicken noodle soup for the our first course (oh yes, first course).

The soup was warm and savoury with a very distinctive flavour. It was also served with some excellent wholemeal bread and butter. The tart was freshly baked with a variety of different cheeses inside and caramelised onion on top. It was also served with a huge salad and dressing (something I find appealing) which had clearly just been made as it tasted wonderfully fresh.

Next, my mum and I tried out the cake section and wow! My mum had a cream tea, lovely hot scones and cream with good jam and I had dorset apple cake with custard cream. It was absolutely delicious!

The place is small but cosy and the ladies who work there are very nice and helpful. This an excellent café and well worth a visit !
