The Best of Folk And Country From Both Sides of the Pond
The combined folk talents that England, Scotland, Ireland and North America have to offer are coming together for a new UK tour.

Transatlantic Sessions is the culmination of various leading folk and country musicians from both sides of the Atlantic, led by the musical inspiration and direction of Aly Bain and Jerry Douglas from opposite ends of the pond.

What began as a series of half-hour television programmes screened on BBC 4 has since gone on to result in a number of live stage performances of the Transatlantic Sessions during brief tours in and around the UK.

And they are happily taking to the road again with a few select dates that includes Symphony Hall in Birmingham on February 2.

The project's founding musical fathers, dobro guitarist Jerry Douglas and Shetland fiddle star Aly Bain, will again be at the forefront together with many of their 'house-band' regulars who will be familiar to TV Transatlantic Sessions viewers.

The collection of accomplished Celtic and Americana musicians include Phil Cunningham, John Doyle, Danny Thompson, Michael McGoldrick, Russ Barenberg, John McCusker, Donald Shaw and James Mackintosh.

And, in keeping with the television series, the Transatlantic Sessions tour will also feature guest stars such as Irish singer Cara Dillon, Karen Matheson, Rhiannon Giddens, currently on sabbatical from the Carolina Chocolate Drops, and duo The Milk Carton Kids.
