I have never considered myself the sort of woman who visits a spa. Until today, I imagined spa attendees as fake tanned, gossiping housewives - women of wealth and connection, women who wear diamonds to the gym, have weekly manicures, and all in all, are nothing like me. How wrong I have been!
Tranquility Spa at Trevornick is a slice of quiet divinity in a bustling family campsite. Having never visited a spa before I was a bit apprehensive about my half-hour back, neck and shoulder massage, but was soon put at easy by the peaceful atmosphere. When I arrived Tranquility Spa was staffed by a petite, motherly woman whose name-tag read 'Kirst.' She welcomed me in with warm professionalism, showing me where to put my coat and bag. The spa comprises only two rooms; the reception area and the spa area, and is simply but elegantly decorated with candles, framed beach scenes, and rolled white towels against the wooden walls.
I opted for a 30-minute head, back and shoulder massage, which was very reasonably priced at £25. The entire session was wonderful, and I soon forgot every worry and sank into a semi-conscious bliss. Kirst was caring and capable, and when the half hour was up I felt more comfortable and rejuvenated than I would have if I'd slept a full night on feather pillows! I found too that my mood lifted, and I floated back to my tent as light as air.
While attending a spa may seems at odds with the rougher living style of camping, I could not recommend enough a visit to Tranquility spa for any Trevornick holiday-maker.
