London may be the centre of the universe, but when it's time for a getaway "London by the Sea" fits the bill. Hop on a train at Victoria Station and in under an hour find yourself in the sparkling and colourful seaside resort that is Brighton, where pleasure is the name of the game and diversity is the byword. Just about anything in the way of fun can be found, with a dazzling choice of things to do and see, all under a backdrop of spectacular sea and ravishing vistas.

Visitors can wander the Lanes to browse and sample over 350 shops, bars and eateries then stroll along to the unmissable Royal Pavilion with all its Regency splendour, or walk out to sea on Brighton Pier. And when you're ready to ride there's Volk's Electric Railway, the world's oldest operating electric railway, running between the Pier and Brighton Marina.

Brighton's blue flagged shingle beaches are the most popular in England and come complete with wifi. There's a beach sports venue and Yacht sailing and powerboating from the marina. And for those who want to bare all, a nudist beach.

Brighton is known as the gay capitol of the UK and each summer and winter plays host to the famous Bighton Pride as well as a variety of festivals throughout the year, and the Brighton Festival is the second largest arts festival in the UK. And of course the city's nightlife is legendary - a heady cornucopia of pubs and clubs to suite every possible taste.

Its proximity to London makes Brighton perfect for day trips, and for a longer stay there's plenty of accommodation on offer, from budget to luxury. The laid back friendliness and bohemian buzz of its cosmopolitan atmosphere make Brighton truly irresistible.
