The family-friendly festival returns
Oxfordshire's long-running family-friendly independent music festival, Towersey, returns this August Bank Holiday with over 100 acts.
Headlining the four-day event, based in Thame on the Oxfordshire/ Buckinghamshire border, are UK country duo The Shires, who've already racked up three consecutive Top 10 albums.
Headiners: The Shires, The Proclaimers, Richard Thompson and Beth Orton
They're joined by The Proclaimers, the Scottish twins whose combination of punk, folk, country, and rock'n'roll, has catapulted them onto an international stage - thanks to such hits as 500 Miles and Letter To America.
Also appearing are the Richard Thompson Electric Trio, Big Country (playing an acoustic set), Cornish shanty singers Fisherman's Friends, Mercury Prize-winning Beth Orton, and Brighouse and Rastrick Band - one of the UK's most lauded brass bands.
Daphne's Flight, Martin Simpson, Knight and Spiers, Lady Maisey, Blair Dunlop, Wildwood Kin, Faustus, Blowzabella and William The Conqueror also perform.
Away from the several music stages - all covered (making Towersey something of a unique proposal, offering shade in sun ... and cover in rain) - the festival also boasts a wide-ranging workshop programme, covering everything from music making and a festival choir, to campsite cookery and outdoor skills.
Family-friendly, with generations of family members often attending together, Towersey also has a strong offer for the younger festival-goers, thanks to its All About Children and Youth Festival strands.
Within these are such activities as bottle-rockets, photography, bedtime stories and a Tiny Tots tent (All About Children); a tech-focused Big Build, acting and music making classes, and space to just chill out (Youth); as well as family films (Paddington 2, Aardman's Early Man), family concert, and lunchtime themed dances.
Adult Day Tickets cost just £40, while a Festival Taster ticket costs only £12 (with children and car parking free), making a great day out for the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Camping is also available.
