Looking for something to do over the Bank Holiday weekend? London is brimming with events and activities, as well as many parks and neighbourhoods just waiting to be explored. Read on to find out how you can make the most of your May Bank Holiday in London.

1. Chelsea in Bloom

Chelsea's annual floral festival has returned for another year, and visitors can enjoy stunning displays throughout the area. This year's theme is 'Floral Feasts', with businesses drawing inspiration from the likes of 'Winnie the Pooh' and 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. Stroll along Sloane Square, Pavilion Road and Duke of York Square to see the arrangements in their full glory.

2. Southbank Centre Food Market

Located on the south bank of the River Thames, this bustling market has numerous stalls, offering everything from hand-baked cookies to curry to Sicilian cuisine. The market is open from 11am to 8pm on Saturday, 12pm to 6pm on Sunday, and 12pm to 6pm on Monday. While in South Bank, you can also sunbathe in Jubilee Gardens (weather permitting), peruse the shops in Gabriel's Wharf, catch a film at the BFI, or show off your moves at the skate park.

3. Bishops Park and Fulham Palace

Escape to the peaceful Bishops Park and Fulham Palace, a hidden gem in West London. Bishops Park is ideal for a family day out over the Bank Holiday weekend, with its playground, ornamental lake and plethora of sports facilities. Adjacent to the park is Fulham Palace, which is steeped in history. Explore the museum and gallery, and take some time to discover the walled garden.

4. Sky Garden

Although Saturday is shaping up to be sunny, you never know what to expect with the weather in this country. The Sky Garden is the perfect place to seek shelter from the rain, whilst soaking up some nature. Situated at the very top of the Walkie Talkie building, the Sky Garden is the city's highest public garden, boasting 360-degree views of the city. Brighten up a gloomy day by relaxing amongst an array of colourful flowers and exotic plants. Check the website for tickets.
