A little bit of a fan of live music, i have done my best over the last few to years to scour the city for the new sounds, old favourites, and great places to see gigs in. Here are some of the best:
Old Blue Last
Owner by the guys at Vice and voted the UK's best venue by the NME this Shoreditch institution isn't short of fans, and conbined with top quality sound and new bands on every night, it is one of the stalwarts of the scene.
Tamesis Dock
A boat on the Thames with views of the Houses of Parliament is always going to get good marks. What really sets the 1930s barge apart though is its friendly vibe.
Sebright Arms
It is small, dark, grimy and tough to find. Why else would it be the indie band's venue of choice?
Paper Dress Vintage
Part shop, part venue, this is one of the growing breed of places that unite many interests in one body...a bit like the people that visit.
The Last Refuge
By the law of averages it was only a matter of time before Peckham started to dabble its toes in hipster waters. Music, performance and art, this is not a venue but a creative space, that new breed of venue that has artistic clout and is brimful of opportunities.
