Catch The Amarillo Singer On His Golden Anniversary Tour
Legendary singer Tony Christie has achieved the incredible milestone of chalking up 50 years in showbusiness. And he is marking the landmark by setting out on a Golden Anniversary Tour which will also see him perform in his home city of Lichfield in Staffordshire.
Tony, who became President of the Friends of the Lichfield Garrick theatre in March this year, will perform at his hometown theatre on Sunday 25 September as part of his 50th anniversary UK tour. Audiences at Lichfield and throughout the UK will be able to hear the much-loved singer's greatest hits including Is This The Way To Amarillo, Las Vegas, Avenues & Alleyways, I Did What I Did For Maria, and Solitaire.
The veteran vocalist and musician has sold more than 10 million records worldwide throughout his lengthy career, which has been enjoying something of a revival thanks to comedian Peter Kay. His hit song, Is This The Way To Amarillo, was used in the TV comedy series Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights in 2002. The song was later re-released in 2005 to raise money for the Comic Relief charity, achieving UK chart success for the second time. It went on to reach Number 1 in the UK singles chart, outselling all the first release's chart run put together.
Not only will Tony be treating audiences to his greatest hits with his fabulous band, he will also join special guests Ranagri at several venues throughout the tour to perform songs from his recent hit album, The Great Irish Songbook, which he collaborated on with Ranagri. Tony will be performing at the Lichfield Garrick on Sunday 25 September at 7.30pm. Tickets cost between £25 and £28 and can be booked online or by calling Lichfield Garrick's Box Office on 01543 412121.
