Making Pictures Come to Life
Tim Walker
Tim Walker's Humpty Dumpty Photography

Tim Walker is an awe-inspiring fashion photographer. His work is like nothing I have seen before; he uses elaborate set designs, vivid colour, and dramatic themes. His photography is truly cinematic. To create his visions he employs set designers, make-up artists, producers, costume designers, and builders, just as if he were creating a real film.

Over a 175 of his works of art will be on display at Somerset House until the 27th January. With giant grotesque dolls, and life size replicas of a spitfire model, it will be more like walking onto a film set than a photo gallery. For this reason, it is probably no surprise to hear that a lot of his work has been inspired by film. Over the course of the exhibition, there will be several film showings of movies that influenced his work. These include A Matter of Life and Death on the 3rd of November and The Wizard of Oz on the 8th December. Both start at 2pm and tickets are 8. Admission to the exhibition itself is free, and is open between 10am-6pm. On the 8th and 29th November & 6th, 13th and 20th December it will remain open till 9pm.
