Winter Wonderland
This annual extravaganza marks the festive season in style, with a big wheel, stomach-churning rides and an ice rink. You'll also find Christmassy food and drink from gingerbread hearts to mulled wine and beer served in wooden chalets. If that's not enough, there's also a range of stalls bursting with both usual and unusual gifts, from woolly jumpers to laughing Santas. There's something for everyone here.

Liberty's Christmas shop
Liberty's historic building and beautiful wares have always made it stand out, and at Christmas it really comes into its own. Around an atrium on the top floor are beautiful Christmas gifts. There are traditional games just like the ones you used to play when you were little, pretty Christmas ornaments and wrapping paper that are guaranteed to make both your tree and the presents under it stand out, and the kind of Christmas crackers that will make your dining table the best dressed in town. For pure luxury at Christmas, look no further.

Southbank Christmas market
Foodies in the know have long been aware of the gourmet food stalls tucked away behind Southbank's arts venues. At Christmas, out in the open along the riverfront, a bustling Christmas market appears, featuring a row of charming wooden huts oozing festive spirit and offering a wide range of food, drink and gifts. Grab a hot chocolate with Baileys or some freshly made churros to warm you up as you browse. Here you'll find something for that difficult present, from a wooden tie for the guy who has everything to pistachio nougat for the person in your life with a sweet tooth- and you won't be able to resist the temptation to get something for yourself...

Selfridges food hall
For gourmet festive fare, look no further than Selfridges. Find the finest versions of Christmas favourites, from mince pies to mint sauce, alongside some traditional favourites from other parts of the world, such as delicious panettone and spiced biscuits. There are some quirky gift ideas too- what about a giant bottle of popcorn, or how about a popcorn maker so you can make your own? This year there's also a Paddington pop up store, to tie in with the film, where you'll find some special edition marmalade, the much-loved books, and of course, Paddington himself.

Christmas afternoon tea at the Ritz
Afternoon tea at the Ritz is a special tradition all year round, but at Christmas it is extra special. The hotel is lavishly decorated in red and gold, with a giant Christmas tree rising up through the rotunda to the hotel's first floor, while in the beautiful palm court, you can enjoy decadent sandwiches, scones, cakes and champagne, accompanied by carol singers. Children get a teddy bear with their tea, while on Christmas day, they are in for a treat, as Father Christmas himself visits, bringing presents in person!
