The Groundlings Theatre will enter the world of Ancient Greek mythology on Wednesday February 14th with their fun family production of Theseus and the Monsters. Inspired by the Ancient Greek hero and some well known monsters, this show combines a little bit of history and story telling with some fun family theatre.
Theseus, like other Ancient Greek heroes Perseus and Heracles, was part human and part god. He was a brave fighter, but his greatest foe was the Minotaur, a beastly creature with the head of the bull and the body of a man who lived deep within a labyrinth. Theseus and the Monsters will no doubt feature the Minotaur, but it also takes inspiration from other classic Ancient Greek myths and may feature a few other monsters for Theseus to fight.
The show is part of the Groundlings Theatre's Picnic Children's Theatre series. These are family shows, and parents are encouraged to bring a picnic along with them to enjoy while they watch the show. This is a great option for families, because sometimes a hungry or distracted child can ruin a day out at the theatre. It's a fun and relaxed environment that can help introduce kids to the world of theatre.
Tickets are available for purchase online from the Groundlings Theatre website, or by calling the box office on 023 9273 7370. As Theseus and the Monsters is part of the Groundlings Picnic Children's Theatre, if you buy tickets to this and another Children's Picnic show and receive a ticket to a third for free.
