At the core of the lunch bars is a healthy eating ethos, based on the name; the meals only contain vital ingredients, which make the meals healthy, what some may term 'clean', and real.
The food is a mix of raw vegetables, fresh juices, and wholemeal wraps, freshly tossed salads and portions of nuts. I like to think of it as healthy, happy food.
I visited Vital Ingredient earlier this week when I caught up with a friend in central. It's only round the corner from Oxford Circus station, right around the back of Topshop and a street, directly behind the store.
I opted for the raw wrap, which was a delicious mix of raw vegetables wrapped in a wholemeal wrap and dressed in a light balsamic and mustard concoction. It cost £5.00, which is a bit more than I'd be prepared to buy for a random cafe, but it was delicious, and kept me full for hours.
The Vital Ingredient operates between the typical city trading time, so you won't be able to visit post 5pm, but for a healthy and wholesome lunch I've yet to find anywhere else that has such a fresh approach to midday meals.
Beware of queues between 1pm and 3pm, but, trust me, the food is worth waiting for.
