As the tail end of Huricane Gonzalo swept over London, I headed up The Shard to the Hutong Bar on the 32nd floor with a friend. We had been hoping to watch the sunset, but the skies were too cloudy. However, this did not take away from the magic of watching the lights come on over London as darkness set in. From the Huxon Bar there are good views over towards the City of London, Tower Bridge and The Docklands.
This picture shows view over the Thames to the City of London, dominated now by the new 'Walkie Talkie' building (sadly). The image was taken at dusk. To the right of the Walkie Talkie is the famous, curved, Gherkin (which happens to be one of my favourite buildings in the city). Just behind the boats on the Thames is Old Billingsgate, once an old fish market, now a swanky events and conference venue.
This is a neat way to see the city, wine here will set you back about £10 per glass once the 12.5% service fee is added to your bill.
