24 years ago, the Birmingham Repertory Theatre presented the first performance of The Snowman. The story was adapted from the Raymond Brigg's children's book and the Channel 4 animated film about a young boy called James who walks out his back door to find his snowman brought to life. James and the Snowman go on some magical adventures, meeting new friends and seeing new things. The story is synonymous with winter and the magic of Christmas. The touring show will be at Southampton's Mayflower Theatre from January 10th till 14th 2018.

The show features a spectacular set that transports the audience to the winter wonderland world of the Snowman. Children will love the adventures of James and his snowman and the animals and other characters they meet along the way. The show features a number of beautiful dance numbers and some impressive wire work that helps to bring the magic to life. And then, of course, there is "Walking in the Air" the Howard Blake song that has become part of not just the Snowman, but an important part of the Christmas season itself.
The Mayflower will also be offering a relaxed performance of the show - a show tailored for people on the autism spectrum, with sensory and communication difficulties, or a learning disability. The show is suitable for children and adults of all ages, and even your youngest little ones will enjoy the visuals and sounds of the show.
There's no doubt that The Snowman is a much loved Christmas tradition, with the film shown on television every year since 1982 and the book selling over 8 million copies worldwide. The stage show provides the opportunity to experience the magic in a brand new way.
The show runs for just 5 days, but there are multiple sessions available. Tickets can be purchased from the Mayflower website. There are also options for booking a show and dinner package, with your performance preceded by a meal at the Mayflower's Ovation Restaurant.
