The Press Room in Twickenham is a quality little coffee shop in central Twickenham. This place feels like you're in a trendy central London coffee shop and it's a refreshing change to the usual café chains. With big windows wrapping around the front of the building, this is a light and airy space that really comes in to its own when the sun's shining.
The Press Room opened its Twickenham doors in 2015. It's actually the second shop of two. Their original and smaller café is in nearby Surbiton. The Press Room has friendly staff who pride themselves on making a great coffee. Now, I'm not a coffee drinker so you'll have to check that out for yourself. I do, however, have a supersized addiction to tea and they really do a good cuppa here.
They sell a range of 23 long leaf teas from China, Sri Lanka, Japan and India. Their teas are beautifully presented on a wooden tray complete with an egg timer, so that you can brew your cuppa to perfection. I am a sucker too for the quirky mini milk bottles that add an extra touch of magic to a lovely cup of tea. In fact, I reckon it's such a good cuppa that The Press Room made an appearance on this list:
Where Are The Best Places To Drink Tea In London?
The Press Room also sells a small selection of sandwiches, pastries and cakes. On my last visit, I tried their banana and chocolate bread. If I'm being brutally honest, and I hate to criticise cake, I'm not convinced about the combo of banana and chocolate in this case. I thought the chocolate was a bit overpowering - and I can eat chocolate all day long. That said, there wasn't much left when I'd finished.
The Press Room also exhibit the work of aspiring artists, without taking any payment or commission, so you can soak up a bit of local culture while you sip on your coffee or cuppa.
