Tucked away on a quiet residential street in the heart of East Sheen is The Plough public house.

The Plough has become the go-to place for Friday lunch out while the kids are at school. This is partly because we are both vegan and the menu has a wide variety of delicious plant-based options, but also because of the friendly and welcoming atmosphere we are always greeted with.

The Plough has a lovely big outdoor space for when the weather is nice and an equally lovely open fire for when it's not. Every now and then we get to sit in the cosy 'snug' section which is lined with shelves full of old books and other interesting bits to look at. This always makes it particularly difficult to move on a cold day!

The menu , which changes frequently, is never disappointing. As mentioned before, my husband and I are both vegan and there are always many options to choose from alongside the meat and fish choices. The usual pub favourites of burger, steak, and fish and chips are all on offer too.

On our most recent visit, we ordered the Asian Plant-Based Sharer which consists of edamame dip, tempura spring onion, ginger glazed carrots, pickled cucumber and radish, tofu wings, miso split pea cake and an Asian salad for £14.95 as well as the Stem Broccoli & Lentil Salad which includes spinach, onion purée, fennel, hazelnut and pumpkin seed granola also for £14.95. My husband and I shared this with a portion of triple-cooked chips (£4.95) and came away feeling stuffed. The tempura spring onion and tofu wings were particularly yummy.

Whilst not cheap, the food at The Plough is not extortionately priced and given the pub's location - South-West London, just a stone's throw from Richmond Park - the prices are competitive for the area.

As well as our frequent Friday visits, we have also been for Sunday lunch with the children, when the kitchen serves a selection of roasts. There is a separate menu for children and colouring pens and paper are provided for entertainment. It is also very dog friendly.

The Plough, which recently became a Fuller's owned pub, is located at 42 Christchurch Road, East Sheen, London, SW14 7AF, a few minutes walk from the main shopping street of Upper Richmond Road.
