To mark the fourth anniversary of the Midlands-based People's Orchestra, a movie-themed concert is being held that includes a specially commissioned piece of music written by BAFTA and Emmy-winning composer John Altman.

Saturday Night At The Movies with The People's Orchestra
It's been four years since The People's Orchestra was set up to encourage musicians to come together to keep playing whatever their age or job.
The Saturday Night At The Movies concert takes place at 7pm on April 16 at West Bromwich Town Hall. Along with the new piece - All At C by John Altman - there will also be well known film tunes from Alice In Wonderland to Transformers, The Matrix Reloaded, The Jungle Book and The Magnificent Seven.
John Altman's work includes producing Aled Jones' Walking in the Air and compositions for films such as GoldenEye, Titanic and the famous song
Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life from Monty Python's Life of Brian.

The People's Orchestra is celebrating its fourth anniversary
Ashley Bott, spokesman for The People's Orchestra, said: "The concert is packed with great film music, from films old and new, by some of the very best film composers.
"We will also be featuring our long-awaited and specially commissioned composition by John Altman, featuring our saxophonist Xhosa Cole, a member of The People's Orchestra since its conception."
He added: "To make this event even more special, the orchestra will be joined on stage by some of the many players who have performed with The People's Orchestra throughout its lifetime, creating a spectacular massed orchestra of members past and present."
